Rape Aggression Defense for Women - RAD
Women’s Self Defense!
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women ages 11 to 80 years. The RAD system is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands on defense training. RAD is not a martial arts program.
The 4-week course is taught by nationally certified RAD instructors from the Urbandale Police Department and the surrounding area. Participants are provided with a workbook / reference manual that outlines the entire Physical Defense Program. The manual is also the key to a lifetime return and practice policy for RAD graduates.
For more information on the RAD programs email or call Instructors Officer Pickett 515-278-3910 or Officer Brooks 515-331-6804.

Safety City is a week-long summer program for children entering Kindergarten. Participating children learn about traffic safety, fire safety, home, playground and other kinds of personal safety in an entertaining, positive environment. Students also become comfortable with a school building in preparation for Kindergarten.
Safety City is designed to supplement safety lessons taught in school and at home. The program uses songs, story books, films, games, and artwork as well as experience riding a school bus and walking and riding Big Wheels on streets in a mock city setting to make learning about safety fun.
Safety City is taught by Urbandale Police Officers and staff. They are assisted by other adults and a team of student helpers.
Location & Requirements
Safety City is open to students who will attend Kindergarten in the fall. This includes students attending Urbandale Schools, Urbandale nonpublic schools, and those in Urbandale home-school programs. Classes will be held at Olmsted and Webster Elementary Schools and all children entering kindergarten are encouraged to attend.
